Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel

Date of Birth
3 March 1982, Ely, Minnesota, USA

Birth Name
Jessica Claire Biel

Nickname
Jesse

Height
5' 8" (1.73 m)

Jessica Biel, with her striking good looks and wide range of talent, has become one of Hollywood's most sought-out actresses. Her television series acting debut on the WB's #1-rated show, "7th Heaven" (1996), has helped her emerge as a breakout star.

As a child Jessica initially pursued a career as a vocalist, performing in musical theater. Beginning at age nine, she starred in such productions as "Annie," "The Sound of Music," and "Beauty and the Beast." A natural beauty, Jessica soon turned to modeling and commercial work by competing in The International Modeling and Talent Association's Annual Conference in 1994.

After completing a year and a half of college at Tufts University in Medford Massachusetts, Jessica plans on going back to school in California for the remainder of her college years. In her spare time, she is involved with charities such as Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and PETA. Her hobbies include ballet, soccer, running, yoga and hiking with her dog "East." Jessica currently resides in Los Angeles.

Jessica Biel is currently a tabloid favorite. A little strange given that she is best known for a television show on the defunct WB network and mediocre films like Stealth and Blade: Trinity. Last year, Biel gained some attention when she put herself up for auction to help raise money for a high school girl who lost her leg in a car accident. Biel was moved to help after she heard about the girl, Molly Bloom, who lives in her hometown of Boulder, Colorado. At the auction, a date with Biel went for $30,000, which helped pay for Molly's medical costs. On a related matter, the president of the high school chess club is now considered the luckiest but poorest guy in Boulder.

Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz

Date of Birth
30 August 1972, San Diego, California, USA

Birth Name
Cameron Michelle Diaz

Nickname
Cami

Height
5' 9" (1.75 m)

A tall, strikingly attractive blue-eyed bottle blonde, Cameron Diaz was born in 1972 in San Diego. She is the daughter of Billie (Anglo-German) and Emilio Diaz (Cuban-American). Self described as "adventurous, independent and a tough kid," Cameron left home at 16 and for the next 5 years lived in such varied locales as Japan, Australia, Mexico, Morocco, and Paris. Returning to California at the age of 21, she was working as a model when she auditioned for a part in The Mask (1994). To her amazement and despite having no previous acting experience, she was cast as the female lead in the film opposite Jim Carrey. Over the next 3 years, she honed her acting skills in such low budget independent films as The Last Supper (1995); Feeling Minnesota (1996); and Head Above Water (1996). She returned to main stream films in My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), in which she held her own against veteran actress Julia Roberts. She earned full fledged star status in 1998 for her performance in the box office smash There's Something About Mary (1998). With her name near the top on virtually every list of Hollyood's sexiest actresses, and firmly established as one of filmdom's hottest properties and most sought after actresses, Cameron Diaz appears to possess everything necessary to become one of the super stars of the new century.

It is easy to assume that Cameron Diaz is very much like the sweet, bubbly characters she plays so well on screen. She stays on the right side of not quite ditzy (Jessica Simpson anyone?!) but neither does she come off like the squeaky clean girl next door a la Jennifer Aniston. A few months ago, Diaz received negative attention in the press after she and Justin Timberlake broke up. What a shame because last winter while Cameron and Justin were skiing they rushed to help a woman after seeing her collide with another skier and fall to the ground. They stayed with the woman for 20 minutes until the paramedics arrived. When it comes to charitable giving, Cameron supports pro-environment organizations such as Act Green and the Environmental Media Association. She is also one of the many A-list celebrities connected to the ONE Campaign, an organization designed to combat international poverty and AIDS.

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore

Date of Birth
22 February 1975, Culver City, California, USA

Birth Name
Drew Blyth Barrymore

Nickname
D

Height
5' 4" (1.63 m)

Charming, free-spirited and - above all - talented, Drew Barrymore has come a long way since her big-screen breakout in Steven Spielberg's beloved sci-fi blockbuster, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982). Despite a troubled and much-publicized adolescence during which she appeared in only a handful of films, Barrymore's star was officially on the rise during the mid-90s with notable appearances in Poison Ivy (1992), Bad Girls (1994/I), Boys on the Side (1995), Batman Forever (1995), Woody Allen's Everyone Says I Love You (1996) and Wes Craven's Scream (1996/I). Turns in The Wedding Singer (1998), Ever After (1998), Never Been Kissed (1999), Charlie's Angels (2000), Riding in Cars with Boys (2001) and Donnie Darko (2001) followed, proving to once-cynical audiences that Barrymore was not only a capable leading lady, but also a gifted and versatile actor. Recent projects have included 50 First Dates (2004), Fever Pitch (2005), Music and Lyrics (2007), Curtis Hanson's Lucky You (2007) and the forthcoming Grey Gardens (2009) (TV).

Of course, Lindsay Lohan has nothing on Drew Barrymore who had a less than ideal childhood. For Drew, early success bred excess. By thirteen, Drew was admitted to rehab for drugs and alcohol and has confessed to attempting suicide. But, Drew has come a long way establishing herself as the latest face of romantic comedies and heading up her own production company called Flower Films. Who else but a peace loving free spirit would name her company Flower Films? In 2006, Drew traveled to Kenya where she took photographs of the devastating effects of a severe drought. Drew donated the photographs to World Food Programme who later sold them and used the proceeds to fight global poverty.

Mini Biography

Lindsay Dee Lohan was born in New York City, on 2 July 1986, to Dina Lohan and Michael Lohan. She began her career at age three as a Ford model, and also made appearances in over sixty television commercials, including spots for The Gap, Pizza Hut, Wendy's, and Jell-O (opposite Bill Cosby). Lohan made her acting debut in 1996 as the third actress to play Ali Fowler in the television drama "Another World" (1964). Shortly afterward, she was hand-picked by Oscar-nominated writer Nancy Meyers as estranged twin sisters in an adaptation by Walt Disney Pictures of a novel by Erich Kästner, which marked Meyers' directorial debut. Lohan's first feature film, The Parent Trap (1998), a remake of The Parent Trap (1961), was a modest commercial success, earning her widespread critical acclaim, and a Young Artist award for Best Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film, as well as Blockbuster Entertainment and YoungStar award nominations.

After signing a three-movie contract with Disney, she returned to the small screen to star in the made-for-TV movies Life-Size (2000) (TV) (opposite Tyra Banks) and Get a Clue (2002) (TV) (opposite Bug Hall). She also appeared as Rose in the pilot episode of the short-lived comedy series "Bette" (2000), which starred Bette Midler.

In June 2001, Lohan took a brief hiatus from acting. Her music career was launched over a year later, when Estefan Enterprises made a five-album production deal with her in September 2002, and she signed a recording contract with the reactivated Casablanca Records.

But Lohan was not turning her back on her blossoming acting career. Just over a month previously, she had been cast opposite Jamie Lee Curtis for another Disney adaptation of a novel, this time of a fantasy comedy by Mary Rodgers. Freaky Friday (2003), a remake of Freaky Friday (1976), was a huge hit (generating over US$160 million in worldwide box office receipts), and critics were spellbound by delightful performances from Lohan and Curtis (who went on to receive a Golden Globe nomination for her work). In addition, Lohan won the 2004 MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Female, as well as a Saturn award nomination and another Young Artist award nomination.

Lohan relocated permanently to Los Angeles, California, between projects, and moved into an apartment with fellow actress Raven-Symoné. She also dated pop star Aaron Carter for a short time.

Lohan's next acting role was the title character in the comedy Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004), a Disney adaptation of the novel by Dyan Sheldon. The film received scathing reviews upon its release and died a quick death at the box office, but even the harshest of critics were impressed by Lohan's charming turn as aspiring actress Lola.

Lohan's next project, Mean Girls (2004) saw her reunite with Freaky Friday (2003) director Mark Waters. Inspired by a non-fiction book by Rosalind Wiseman and written by "Saturday Night Live" (1975) scribe Tina Fey, the high-school comedy-drama opened to glowing reviews, and grossed $86 million in the US. This earned her status as a bankable actress, and a salary of $7.5 million for the Donald Petrie romantic comedy Just My Luck (2006).

One of the most sought-after young actresses in the industry, she is staring in Bobby (2006) (opposite Nick Cannon), Fashionistas (2010) (based on the novel by Lynn Messina), the high school dramas "Dramarama" (1983), "Gossip Girl" (2007)(based on the novel by Cecily von Ziegesar), and the Disney fantasy adventure Herbie Fully Loaded (2005) (a pseudo-sequel to The Love Bug (1968)). On top of a thriving film career, Lohan released her debut album, called "Speak," which hit shelves in December 2004.

In her spare time, Lohan enjoys swimming, basketball, shopping, singing, reading, writing, gymnastics, collecting Beanie Babies, roller-blading, and playing with her siblings Ali Lohan, Dakota and Michael Lohan.

Nother tabloid favorite, Lindsay Lohan has already developed a notorious reputation for being an enthusiastic partier and nightclub hopper. Not yet twenty-one, Lohan recently completed a stint in a rehabilitation treatment center for alcoholism. A bit of irony considering that one of the charities she supports is Save the Children. The mission of Save the Children is to work with families to define and solve the problems their children and communities face such as poverty, illiteracy, and substandard medical care. Hopefully, Lohan's time in rehab helped her realize how lucky she is to be able to do something she enjoys for a living and to get well compensated for it.

Tobey Maguire

rom indie darling to international blockbuster icon, Tobey Maguire is no ordinary young thirty-something star. Despite being the face of one of the most beloved superheroes brought to life from comic book to silver screen, Maguire has found time to support environmentally friendly organizations such as the National Resources Defense Council and Heal the Bay. Maguire is also a long-time vegan who supports cruelty-free animal living. He recently swore off leather and even ordered a non-leather interior for his new car. Of course, we would have no problem living a leather-free life if we could afford a custom designed car!

Jessica Alba Sue Storm

Jessica Alba Sue Storm

Date of Birth
28 April 1981, Pomona, California, USA

Birth Name
Jessica Marie Alba

Nickname
Sky Angel
Albz

Height
5' 6½" (1.69 m)

Born in Pomona, California, on April 28, 1981, Jessica Alba and her family moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, when she was an infant. Three years later, her Air Force father brought the family back to California, then to Del Rio, Texas, before finally settling in Southern California when Jessica was nine. In love with the idea of becoming an actress from the age of five, she was 12 before she took her first acting class. Nine months later, she was signed by an agent. A gifted young actress, Jessica has already played a variety of roles ranging from light comedy to gritty drama since beginning her career. She made her feature film debut in 1993 in Hollywood Pictures' comedy Camp Nowhere (1994). Originally hired for two weeks, she got her break when an actress in a principal role suddenly dropped out. Jessica cheerfully admits it wasn't her prodigious talent or charm that inspired the director to tap her to take over the part - it was her hair, which matched the original performer's. The two-week job stretched to two months, and Jessica ended the film with an impressive first credit. Two national TV commercials for Nintendo and J.C. Penney quickly followed before Jessica was featured in several independent films. She branched out into TV in 1994 with a recurring role in Nickelodeon's popular comedy series "The Secret World of Alex Mack" (1994). She played an insufferable young snob, devoted to making life miserable for the the title character, played by Larisa Oleynik. That same year, she won the role of "Maya" in "Flipper" (1995) and filmed the pilot for the series. She spent 1995 shooting the first season's episodes in Australia. An avid swimmer and PADI-certified scuba diver, Jessica was delighted to be doing a show that allowed her to play with dolphins. The show's success guaranteed it a second season, which she also starred in. Her involvement in the show lasted from 1995 to 1997. Since the show ended, she has appeared in a number of TV shows and films. In 1996, she appeared in Venus Rising (1995) as "Young Eve". The next year, she appeared on the "The Dini Petty Show" (1989), a Canadian talk show, and spoke about her role in "Flipper" (1995) and her general acting career. She began working on P.U.N.K.S. (1999), featuring Randy Quaid, in 1998. In early 1998, she appeared in "Brooklyn South" (1997) as "Melissa". That same year, she was in two episodes of "Beverly Hills, 90210" (1990) as "Leanne" and in two episodes of "The Love Boat: The Next Wave" (1998). She appeared in "Teen Magazine" in 1995 and various European magazines in the following several years. More importantly, she was featured in the February 1999 issue of "Vanity Fair" magazine. She also had major roles in two movies that year: Never Been Kissed (1999) and Idle Hands (1999). In 2000, she had roles in Paranoid (2000/I) and starred in the sci-fi TV series "Dark Angel" (2000).

Probably best known as All-American girl Sue Storm from the Fantastic Four movie, Jessica Alba is proving off-screen why she is a real life All-American girl. Alba recently donated her shoes to Soles4Souls an organization sponsoring the Spring Cleaning/Million Pair March to help the displaced people in Sudan. No stranger to taking off her clothes (at least most of them, please see May 10, 2005 cover of Maxim), Alba is also a supporter of Clothes Off Our Back. At this charity, celebrities donate their clothes that are auctioned off to the general public with the proceeds used to help children's charities.

Britney Spears

Name
Britney Spears
Birth Date
December 02, 1981
Birth Place
Kentwood, La.

Pop superstardom began for Britney Spears in 1998 when she sported Lolita-like pigtails and naughty schoolgirl garb for “...Baby One More Time.” Since then, she has become her own industry, generating record-shattering sales and iconic music videos and performances.
Although Spears initially promoted a good girl image, she lost her much publicized virginity to former N’SYNC-er Justin Timberlake before her 55-hour Las Vegas marriage to childhood pal Jason Alexander in 2004.

That same year, she married backup dancer Kevin Federline, which produced two sons and a 2006 divorce. Spears hit the party scene to an extreme and exhibited some bizarre behavior that led to a rollercoaster stint in rehab.

While enduring a well-publicized custody battle with Federline, Spears broke under pressure in 2008, lost custody of her sons, and ended up in (and out) of hospital under mental lockdown, as her parents battled Spears’ constant confidant Sam Lutfi over who decides what is best for Spears.
